|
Description |
In 1922 Kate Smailes of Goathland planted 12 English oak trees to commemorate the 12 men of the village who lost their lives in WWI. Kates own son, George, was one of those lost. This list contained 68 names these were the Farnhill WW1 Volunteers. Our project will, in conjunction with the Farnhill and Kildwick Local History Group, research the lives of these men: before, during, and after the war to produce short biographies and to make this biographical information widely... |
