The WW1 Digi Platform and Archive (the/this “Platform”) is a supplementary project awarded to The Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis, Queen’s University Belfast and linked to a larger Living Legacies 1914-18 Public Engagement Centre project http://www.livinglegacies1914-18.ac.uk/, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

Copyright and Permitted uses
Copyright, trade marks and other intellectual property rights in the material on this Platform - including but not limited to, animations, character design, text, software, music, lyrics, sound, photographs, graphics, video, page layouts and design, the “Material” and the names, images and logos identifying Queen University Belfast, The Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis, Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Heritage Lottery Fund and other third parties the “Branding”, are either owned by Queen’s University Belfast or are licensed to it by third parties.
We are committed to protecting our Material and Branding wherever possible as well as respecting the copyright in Material and Branding produced and licensed to us by third parties.

Where indicted, you may print off copies and download extracts of any Material from this Platform under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Licence. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/ When you use any Material under these terms, please attribute us and any contributors. Terms and Conditions of Submitting Material
By submitting any Material to this Platform and/or by signing up as a contributor to the WW1 Digi Platform and Archive, you agree to be bound and abide by these Terms and Conditions. The Platform does not capture or store any information about a living, identifiable individual “Personal Data” except where explicitly noted. Personal data will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Notice.

You acknowledge that you make this Material available under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Licence. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/ . You must not submit any Material to which is defamatory, offensive, menacing or obscene or which in our judgment may cause nuisance, annoyance, damage or offence, inconvenience to us or any other person or which is illegal.

  • You must abide by at all times privacy laws and not submit any Material which contains Personal Data about third parties without their consent.
  • We may remove or edit such Material from this Platform at any time without notice to, or consent by, you.

The Material on this Platform is provided for convenience as part of the service we offer. As almost all Material originates from outside the WW1 Digi Platform and Archive, we cannot accept any liability, or responsibility, for any Material uploaded on to this Platform. So far as permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, conditions and other terms of any kind, whether express or implied, whether in contract, tort (including liability for negligence) or otherwise, including, but not limited to any implied term of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, and any standard of reasonable care and skill.

Visitors who rely on any Material do so at their own risk. Any dealings by you with any third party on or through this Platform shall be solely between you and that third party and we shall not be responsible for any loss or damage that may arise from any such dealings, nor shall we be deemed to be acting as an agent for you in any such dealings.

The Platform is not responsible for the contents or reliability of any websites that are linked to our own and does not necessarily endorse the views expressed within them. Similarly, a link listed on the Site shall not be taken as endorsement of any kind. We cannot guarantee that these links will work all the time and we have no control over availability of the linked pages.

The Platform cannot guarantee that your use of this Platform will be free from error and/or uninterrupted. Your use of this Platform is at your sole risk. This Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis and we do not guarantee that this Platform will be suitable for your purposes or requirements. Whilst all reasonable effort has been taken to ensure that Material, which may be downloaded from this Platform , are free from viruses, the Platform gives no warranties that they are virus-free and users are responsible for ensuring that they have installed adequate virus checking software. As far as permitted by law, and except in respect of fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury arising from negligence, we exclude any liability for loss or damage of any kind resulting from your use of the Site (including the reliance upon any information contained on it). We shall not under any circumstances be liable for any special or consequential damages that result from the use of, or the inability to use, the materials on this Site, even if we or a representative of ours has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Take Down, Reporting Issues or making complaints

Takedown policy
We have made all reasonable efforts to ensure that Material uploaded on this Platform has been done in compliance with the legislative framework (Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and other applicable laws).
Please contact the Project Manager Elaine.Reid@qub.ac.uk if you are the owner of the copyright or related rights in any of the Material on this Platform

  • and you believe that the content may be subject to a third party ownership or another legal claim,
  • or you believe that use of this content infringes your intellectual property or any other rights.

We will take down the Material from our Website upon receipt of your written objection and our initial verification of your complaint, while the matter is investigated.
You need to include the following information in your written objection:

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • A link to where the Material on this Platform is located
  • The nature of the complaint
  • A statement that you are the copyright holder or are authorised to act on behalf of the rights holder. You may be asked to provide proof of this ownership that would stand up in a court of law

Your objection will be acknowledged within seven working days of receipt.
The information you provide in your written objection will be used only in connection with this enquiry.
