WW1 Community Platform

At the heart of this resource is the development of a sustainable archive and platform to safeguard digital content created through WW1 Engagement Centre-sponsored community projects, and through Heritage Lottery Fund-funded Centenary projects.

About The Project

The WW1 Community Platform stands as a fitting legacy to the efforts of the plethora of local and national community-based NLHF-funded projects, which collectively represent our recognition and appreciation of the contributions made a hundred years ago by all those who served in the ‘Great War’. Through the Centenary community projects that studied the lives of men and women on the home front and in theatres of war between 1914 and 1918, we get a glimpse of their everyday lives, their traumas and triumphs through adversity. Now, as we reflect not only on the ending of the War but also the conclusion of its Centenary, the WW1 Community Platform represents a lasting testimony to all those from across these islands who sought to connect past and present through using 21st-century digital technologies, safeguarding the innovate and important research undertaken for future generations.
